Afarin Sajedi blev født i 1979 i Shiraz. Hun rejste til Teheran for at studere ved Teheran Azad University, hvor hun fik sin grad i grafisk design.

Afarins kreativitet, teknik og magtfulde præsentation kommer til udtryk, når hun maler sine teatralske karakterer. Det kan være farverige klovneansigter eller værker, inspireret af japansk teater samt symboler på vestlig religiøs kunst sat overfor den moderne verden. Hendes karakterer er nærmest kongelige, stolte og tavse med et dybe, intense blikke.

Fisken er et symbol i de fleste af hendes kunstværker og rykker værkerne tættere på de mere surrealistiske eller pop-surrealistiske stilarter.
